It's so hard to send our kids back to school when we hear about school shootings & bus crashes, but as parents we have to remember that our job is to train up our children to make good decisions. It's our burden as parents to challenge our kids to understand that every decision they make will have a positive or negative outcome. We can't let fear make our decisions for us.
The woman (Antoinett Tuff) who was working in the front office at the school in Atlanta who talked the shooter down, said: "I'm not a hero, I was scared to death!"
It was Timothy who said: "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7 talks more about it)
When we face a crisis, I think the key is a sound mind. Most people fear the unknown more than they fear the big crisis ahead of them. When we have a sound mind, we can evaluate the situation, we can listen, we can think back to our training and make clear decisions. A sound mind will cut through the fear!
