How Do I Renew My Mind?

scott herrold

We Ask God to do it! In Romans 12, St Paul warns us, "Don’t conform to this age. Instead, be transformed by renewing your minds.

I've found the best way to stay grounded in this is to go out of our way to make God's word (The Bible) my moral and spiritual foundation. I try to line up all my logic to make sure it falls under the authority of the Bible.

James 1:7 says: "Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow." (NLT)

God's Word never changes. It always trumps the so called "truth" that comes out of culture.  Hebrews 13:8 says,"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."  (NLT)

Jesus even confirmed that everything in the Old Testament is God's Word.

When I hear some "wisdom" that sounds logical, I want to put it through the filter of God's Word and make sure it's in agreement, or it's not really "Godly wisdom." I ask God to renew my mind and work in my heart.

*If you struggle with staying grounded or you struggle with how to overcome all the challenges that continue to creep into your life, you should read this book by Merlin Carothers: What's On Your Mind. It shows you how you can actually take "every thought into captivity."
