Yesterday I heard "God's Not Dead" the latest single from the Newsboys. I couldn't believe what I heard. All of a sudden I was back in the 90's listening to DC Talk. The video below explains what I mean ...........
I've watched this video several times, it's done two things for me..... 1. Made me very grateful for the blessings and people that God has placed in my life....2. Made me take a look at the "problems" in my life and realize how small they are in the grand scheme of things. Grab a couple tissues check out this video from Ben Breedlove....
Call them resolutions, call them goals... If I don't make a list of things I want to accomplish, I find myself looking back and not really doing much with the new year. Here's my 2012 list.
1. Spend more time with Vanessa. With 6 kids time is really a valuable commodity. This year I want to manage my time so that I'm spending more quality time with my wife.
2. Read. This is on my list every year, but it seems to fall to the wayside come spring. This year, reading 14 books in my goal.
3. Starting a college fund for the kids....... I need to start now if I'm gonning to send 6 kids to college!
4. Make healthy choices when it comes to eating.
One of my favorite Christmas specials airs tonight on CBS. It's not a cartoon or a Christmas classic, it will feature the stories of children whose lives have been changed by adoption.
Don't Shoot!!!!
This is a topic that comes up every year about this time, does Xmas remove Christ from Christmas?
In my opinion, no it doesn't.
In our world today it seems like we are fighting a losing battle to keep our faith in our everyday lives. Xmas, isn't something we need to be fighting against. After reading up on the topic and talking to others who have much more insight on this debate, this is what I found.
I love the message in this song. For me, it's not Christmas until I hear Casting Crowns "I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day."
My favorite Christmas song hands down is Joy Williams "Here With Us." I believe this song captures the true meaning of Christmas in a single line.... "Heaven's love reaching down to save the world." A new tradition in my home is watching the Nativity Story a couple days before Christmas to get us focused on the real meaning of Christmas. I found this video on Youtube that combines both the song and clips from the movie. Give it 4:43... and it will put you in the proper Christmas mindset.
In my ideal world, every child would grow up in a safe and loving home, but we know this world isn't ideal. For the last 5 years my wife and I have been Foster Parents in Southern Nevada. In that time we have met children who've faced things that I couldn't have imagined in my worst nightmares. But, it is truly amazing how a safe place and love can free a child from their past.
My wife and I have been watching X-Factor since the show debut this past fall. One of our favorites from the beginning has been Rachel Crow. This little girl is a ball of sunshine, watching her on stage you just have to believe there is something special about her....... and there is.
The Rock and Worship Roadshow is coming back to Las Vegas in February. Check out what Mercy Me, Jars Of Clay, Matt Maher, Thousand Foot Krutch, The Afters & Lecrae do during their downtime on the tour.
