Help Me Overcome My Unbelief!

There’s a story in the Bible about a father who is worried about his son. (Mark 9:14-29) His son had been sick since he was a young boy. Turns out that the son had an evil spirit possessing him. The father knows that his boy needs help but he hasn’t found anyone who can do anything to cure him. That is, until Jesus. The father said to Jesus, “But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”  “If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

With Independence Day happening this week, it’s got me thinking about our freedoms. I’m sure you can come up with plenty of them off the top of your head: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of privacy. Those are all amazingly great things! I’ve been focused on the freedom I get in Jesus.

Jesus frees me from my own worry and anxiety.

It's easy to fill up our schedules with commitments but it takes courage to say 'no' and take personal time for your emotional, mental, and physical rest.

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." -Matthew 11:28
