CAROL OF THE BELLS BY DAVID FOSTER
It's so hard to send our kids back to school when we hear about school shootings & bus crashes, but as parents we have to remember that our job is to train up our children to make good decisions. It's our burden as parents to challenge our kids to understand that every decision they make will have a positive or negative outcome. We can't let fear make our decisions for us.
The woman (Antoinett Tuff) who was working in the front office at the school in Atlanta who talked the shooter down, said: "I'm not a hero, I was scared to death!"
Believe it or not, out of the first 18 years of our child’s life, almost 6 and a half years of that time will be spend in school! That’s over 1/3 of their journey will be outside of our personal care!
That challenges me as a parent to brainstorm new ways to supplement my child’s education and do a better job living out my values. Like Proverbs says, "If we train up a child in the way he should go, when he’s old he won’t depart from it."
We might not have specific control over our kid’s education, but we do have influence & power when we pray for them each day! Carve out the time!
I was listening to the latest song from Sidewalk Prophets: Help Me Find It. These words are so powerful about God's will for our life!
Colton Dixon made an app to add his signature hair to your face!
I've been playing with it this morning while I'm playing the music on SOS Radio! Click here and "Coltonize" yourself!
One of my new favorite songs is Luminate: God Can Heal This Home. I really believe that He can! I’ve seen it in some crazy circumstances. One of the keys is to shift our view of what’s best for ME… to what can God do through US?
It’s that idea that maybe marriage isn’t just about making us happy, but more about making us holy.
I feel SO out of style when I see all the clothes at the mall. I'm still in skinny jeans denial! Back to school shopping always does this to me. It's like 5 stages of grief!
1. Denial – The clothing stores are just selling ugly stuff this year. They are out of touch!
2. Anger – I am NOT paying $65 for a ratty t shirt with some designer logo on it. These girl shirts just keep getting tighter and tighter and shorter & shorter…. no one can fit into this!
3. Bargaining – OK.... I've been to 27 stores.....MAYBE I'll let my kid wear that outfit IF I can change it up a little bit and make it a little more modest….
Mandisa & Scott Herrold talked about family reunions, living by love & conviction and overcoming our past.
This was an encouraging chat about faith![Audio]
Shakespeare said, “"How far that little candle throws his beams. So shines a good deed in a weary world."
When we shine God’s light at work today, we can share a little hope with our co workers and help brighten our company culture!
A tiny candle can break up the eclipsing darkness. A city on a hill can be seen from miles away. A simple light bulb can illuminate an entire room. If you feel like your work setting is a dark place, be a simple light. Be a simple influence. Showcase God's love by the way you live. If you don't have enought light yourself, reflect God's light.
So much of our life is how we react to the challenges that come our way.
Jesus never said: "FIGURE IT OUT." But all throughout the Bible he does say, "DO NOT FEAR," and "I AM WITH YOU" and "I AM IN CONTROL."
We can give our burdens over to him. We don't have to carry them around!
Let's leave our baggage at the curb and walk away! -Scott Herrold
