Francis Chan says, “I think the fear of God failing us leads us to cover for God. This means we ask for less, expect less, and are satisfied with less because we are afraid to ask more or expect more. I can’t imagine how much it pains God to see His children hold back from relationship with the Holy Spirit out of fear that He won’t come through. How much it grieves Him to watch His children ignore the promises He’s made throughout the Bible due to the fear that those promises won’t be kept.” (From his book: Forgotten God)

This weekend was a rollercoaster of emotion after hearing about the attacks in Connecticut. Honestly, my first reaction was anger, but Friday afternoon it developed into a broken heart and feeling that evil people too often eclipse the good in our society. I'm tired of allowing evil people to steal my hope & joy. I had to go back to God’s Word to get it all centered again.
In Pauls letters to the Roman Church, he said, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
