United Way of Southern Nevada, the leading philanthropic organization in southern Nevada, will host its annual 2013 – 2014 Community in Blue | Campaign Celebration. The event celebrates United Way’s recent campaign achievements, and honors individuals, businesses and community partners that join with United Way to transform lives. The Salvation Army will be distributing backpack to students, grades K - 12, the week of August 19-23 at their Family Services office, 1581 N Main Street, Las Vegas, 89101. Distribution will be open from 1 - 3 PM each day that week. Parents/guardians must bring ID for each of the children - birth certificate, social security card, school ID or last year's report card - and their own ID.
On Monday, August 19, only, there will be free haircuts by GOTO and the Health District will be offering required shots for students.
Approximately 1,000 backpacks to be given away

The "Run for Recovery" will be a fun run with the main purpose being to raise awareness about the severity and the effects that addiction has on individuals and their families; as well as to raise appropriate funds to help support Celebrate Recovery and what it takes to operate. Join us as we traverse through our course around Central Christian's building and property.
