The Salvation Army will be distributing backpack to students, grades K - 12, the week of August 19-23 at their Family Services office, 1581 N Main Street, Las Vegas, 89101. Distribution will be open from 1 - 3 PM each day that week. Parents/guardians must bring ID for each of the children - birth certificate, social security card, school ID or last year's report card - and their own ID.
On Monday, August 19, only, there will be free haircuts by GOTO and the Health District will be offering required shots for students.
Approximately 1,000 backpacks to be given away

The "Run for Recovery" will be a fun run with the main purpose being to raise awareness about the severity and the effects that addiction has on individuals and their families; as well as to raise appropriate funds to help support Celebrate Recovery and what it takes to operate. Join us as we traverse through our course around Central Christian's building and property.

On Friday August 9th 2013, The Las Vegas 51’s will be offering two free tickets to their baseball game and post game fireworks show for every bag of non-perishable groceries brought to and donated at Cashman Field (850 Las Vegas Blvd.) from 5:00pm to 7:30 pm the night of the game. The game begins at 7:05pm. Donation booths will be set up at the entrance of Cashman Field. Donations will be taken directly from the game to the food pantries.
Volunteers from the food pantries will be manning the booths, distributing the tickets as well as transporting the donations to the pantries.
