The walk demonstrates support for individuals and their families who suffer from mental illness and recovering addicts. It also celebrates those in recovery and honors organizations providing prevention, treatment and recovery support services.
It’s success depends upon people willing to lend their voices to the message that long term recovery is a reality. The stigma surrounding mental illness and addiction comes from lack of information. It’s time for the public and legislators to learn that investment in prevention, treatment and recovery support is an investment in the health and economic welfare of our communities.
Participate as a walker, start or join a walk team or contribute as a donor. Get started!
On Saturday May 10th 2014 the Jimenez/Cockrell family's home burned down in a fire. It was a total loss. Making it worse many treasured belongings of David (their father who passed away suddenly about about 12 years ago) were lost. Finally their house is almost done being rebuilt and they are getting ready to move in. It has been a rather long journey and they need some help cleaning up the backyard of the house. All the belongings that were fire and water damaged are back there in a big pile. They need all the junk removed from the backyard.
It is recommend to bringing work gloves, or even latex gloves at a minimum and wearing long pants and sturdy closed toe shoes. There is a shed that needs to be emptied and all the junk in backyard.
