HOLD ME (FEAT TOBY MAC) BY JAMIE GRACE
United Way of Southern Nevada is encouraging summer reading by hosting a “Flip Through Summer” Book Drive on May 16 through May 30. When school is out children can lose as much as three months of reading comprehension. Community members who participate in the “Flip Through Summer” Book Drive can help change that story.
Community members can drop off their new and gently used books (books geared towards birth through age 12 preferred) during the week of May 16 through 30 to United Way of Southern Nevada.
United Way also invites local organizations to hold their own “Flip Through Summer” Book Drives anytime during the month of May to contribute to this effort encouraging summer reading.
The books will be distributed during a community-wide book swap held at “Flip Through Summer” on May 31 from 9am – 12pm at Lorenzi Park. This fun-filled summer kickoff will feature a walk down storytime lane with special character visits, book nooks, live entertainment, face painting, and unique booths from southern Nevada’s finest community resources.
Those interested in participating in the “Flip Through Summer” Book Drive can visit volunteer.uwsn.org to learn more. If your company is interested in hosting a book drive, contact the Volunteer Center at 702-892-2322.
