MATTHEW WEST-HELLO MY NAME IS
In recognition of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, Las Vegas Solari Hospice Care will host its annual “Celebration of Life” service from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, at the botanical gardens amphitheater of the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., Las Vegas. This event honors the lives of Las Vegas Solari Hospice Care patients who passed away from Sept. 1, 2012 through Aug. 31, 2013.
National Hospice and Palliative Care Month is a time for hospices across the country to host activities that focus on celebrating the unique system of support and benefits provided by the loving care of hospice.
This non-denominational community memorial service will include comments from Las Vegas Solari Hospice Care administrators and health professionals, including words of inspiration, a message of comfort and the reading of patients’ names. Special music will be provided by local musicians and vocalists. Family members will have the opportunity to say a few words if they wish. At the conclusion of the service, everyone is invited to enjoy complimentary coffee and refreshments.
Hospice is more than traditional healthcare. Hospice programs provide pain management, symptom control, psychosocial support and spiritual care to patients and their families when a cure is not possible. Hospice care combines the highest level of quality medical care with the emotional and spiritual support that families need most when facing the end of life.
“Every year, we gather together with the families and friends of our former patients to reflect on the memorable and touching moments we shared,” said Candis Armour, R.N., executive director, Las Vegas Solari Hospice Care. “It’s important in the healing process to work through grief. And this service offers an opportunity for closure and acceptance with the support and compassion of others.”
