So I have an 8th grader....and I don't know how you felt about Middle School, but me? It was your classic awkward season of life. I sat down with my daughter yesterday and we read through this article together. Honestly, she rolled her eyes at the suggestion of going through it together, and silently nodded through it, but she gave me a big hug last night and said "thanks for the talk today Mom." There is some good stuff in here!
I have a new Pinterest board! If you want to follow along or share some mom tips or recipe ideas with me, I LOVE that!

As I pulled up to the grocery store, I scanned the parking lot for a shady spot.
There was only one, and it had been taken. In fact, there was only one tree in the entire lot, offering just enough shade for one space… and the man walking from his vehicle had a smile on his face. Well done, sir.
I looked at that tree, and realized that it wasn’t bothered by the sun and heat like I was.
In fact, it wasn’t working hard to keep that little parking spot shaded. It was just doing what trees do; connect with the sun and soak up all that glorious sunshine. The fact that it provided shade was just a natural part of that process.

My 4-year old son was so excited to feed the birds with the birdfeeder he'd picked out at the store! I grabbed a big bag of bird seed, opened the top, and started to pour the seed in.
"Dad, I wanna do it!"
The bag was too much for the little guy to handle, so we got out a cup. I filled his cup, and he poured it into the feeder. Each time he'd hear the sound of the seed cascading down into it, he'd giggle in excitement. And when his cup was empty, he'd look up at me, and I'd refill it, so he could pour it in again.
