“My God my God why have you forsaken me?” Read Psalm 22 if you’re wondering what Jesus really meant. It’s a Psalm of David written hundreds of years before Jesus was born. David was a songwriter & poet. He was wrestling with the challenges in his life and he penned this Psalm in his pain. It’s so deep it actually includes some prophecy of the coming Messiah - a different kind of king in David’s lineage.
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest.
As you read through the Palm Sunday story this weekend at church, there’s a few things I want to point out to you that might rock your world.
The Gospels say Jesus, rode into Jerusalem on that colt of a donkey who had never been ridden. That actually fulfilled a prophecy in Zechariah 9 written like 500 years before Jesus was born. It says:
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (meaning he has never been ridden before)
There’s so much of the Easter story what was foretold hundreds of years before Jesus was ever born. The prophet Jeremiah said,” They took 30 pieces of silver. The price of the one priced by sons of Israel, and they purchased the potter’s field.”

I think about all the elements that go together to make great movies, and for me it all goes back to the story. Because we can all relate to the conflict that a character faces in life. It’s reflective to us.
