HERE I AM TO WORSHIP BY PHILLIPS CRAIG DEAN
It's about the story of Hosea & his wife Gomer, but it's more about grace and how God pursues us when we're not really seeking him. Click below for the audio!
OK so maybe "break" wasn't the right word. Maybe it was just a cheap ploy to get your attention.
If I have it, check this out:
Thanks for signing the petition and spreading this around!
I’ve been reading Jud Wilhite’s new book Pursued and it’s about the story of Hosea in the Bible. He was a prophet and God told him to marry a prostitute! The story obviously talks about marriage, but it’s really a parallel to God’s relationship with his people. It’s about how he pursues us and loves us even when we’re not fully understanding or seeking him.
The book talks about how we take the wrong approach when we think we’ve done certain things FOR God. So HE should be obligated to do certain things for US, such as forgive US or dump a ton of blessings in OUR life. However, Jud Wilhite says “that’s like approaching God with a religious car salesman attitude.”
It's tax time! This year I decided to file early instead of waiting till the last minute. If you're expecting a refund from the IRS this year, you can track the status of your return by checking out this website... http://www.irs.gov/Refunds/Where's-My-Refund-It's-Quick,-Easy,-and-Secure.
Talked with Dr. Elliot Shin MD today about The Operation Hope Medical Clinic in Las Vegas. They provide free medical care to families that need it. Here's the details.
I saw this from Rick Warren and it really challenged me:
In The Purpose Driven Life, he says: "Many who claim to believe the Bible from cover to cover have never actually read it from cover to cover! But if you will take just 15 minutes a day, you will read completely through it in a year. If you cut out one 30 minute television program per day, can read through the Bible twice in a year."
We probably don't feel excited about God's Word cause we're not reading it. We can't get excited about something we don't really know. Here's a couple ideas.
You can download the free You Version app and follow one of their free 1 year Bible reading plans.
In The Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren said: “To be a healthy disciple of Christ, feeding on Gods Word must be your first priority. Jesus called it abiding. He said if you abide in my word then you are truly disciples of mine.”
It all comes back to figuring out what the ultimate authority is in your life. Cause it supersedes culture, tradition & emotion. It’s God’s word.
If the resolutions haven't worked out as planned, here's one way to adjust our strategy. Make God's Word our moral & spiritual authority. We can stand on that and navigate anything that life throws at us.
I'm quite forgetful lately, for no good reason. Maybe it's just part of getting old? HOPE NOT! The other day on my show, we kicked around ideas on improving memory.
For anyone you know who'd like to be a little less forgetful, here are some highlights:
1. Write things down. Even if you forget to take the thing you wrote on with you, the mere act of writing can burn stuff into your brain.
2. Use technology: set up alarms, alerts, etc. on your computer and/or smart phone.
3. Exercise your brain! One person told me she plays Brain Age to keep her mind sharp. I personally attempt the same thing via Words With Friends, Scramble With Friends, and Hanging With Friends (what can I say...I like word games!).
