The American Board, a non-profit organization dedicated to recruiting and certifying community-based teachers in Idaho, will host a public event on how local residents can become certified Idaho teachers.
The event will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 6:30 pm and again at 7:30 pm at Hilton Garden Inn – Snake River South Room, 1741 Harrison St. in Twin Falls and will be led by Idaho Teacher Certification Specialist Michael Burke.
The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required for entry.
“Anyone with a bachelor’s degree can become a full-time teacher within a year as long as they plan the right path.” Burke said. “We are searching for people who have real-life experience and want to apply that experience in the classroom.”
Local organizations that rely on volunteers for funding will have information booths for display for the community to learn about different volunteer opportunities and find something that interests them. Free to the public to attend. Twin Falls Senior Center will be serving breakfast from 9:00am to 11:00am.

All are welcome. Participants will travel through a series of stations focused on Jesus’ love and forgiveness that demonstrate the real meaning of Easter. This nondenomination program is designed for parents and their children to experience together.
The evening will begin with a free, light meal served from 6 to 6:30 p.m. followed by the program. If you plan to join us, please call 423-4311 to ensure adequate food is prepared.
Valley Christian Church will host a free family movie night showing “Soul Surfer” for the community 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 16 at 1708 Heyburn Avenue East in Twin Falls.
“Soul Surfer” is the inspiring true story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack and courageously overcame all the odds to become a champion again, through her sheer determination and unwavering faith. Soul surfer features an all-star cast, including AnnaSophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood and Dennis Quaid.
Free babysitting and nursery care will be provided for children, who are invited to watch the Disney movie, “WALL*E.”
