Foster Care + Adoption + X-Factor = Rachel Crow

Copyright: Nino Munoz / FOXIn my ideal world, every child would grow up in a safe and loving home, but we know this world isn't ideal. For the last 5 years my wife and I have been Foster Parents in Southern Nevada. In that time we have met children who've faced things that I couldn't have imagined in my worst nightmares. But, it is truly amazing how a safe place and love can free a child from their past.

My wife and I have been watching X-Factor since the show debut this past fall. One of our favorites from the beginning has been Rachel Crow. This little girl is a ball of sunshine, watching her on stage you just have to believe there is something special about her....... and there is.

Rachel's life didn't start out with sunshine, in fact it was more of a storm of parental drug use and abuse. At just six months old Rachel was removed from her biological parents and placed in foster care where she ended up with the Crow family. One year later Rachel was adopted by the Crow family.

Even with such a rough start to life, a loving and safe home has her on the verge of becoming a superstar. The winner of X-Factor will take home a 5 million dollar prize, what are Rachel's plans if she wins? She wants to help kids in the foster care system......

“I want to build a foundation that makes them feel good about themselves -- whether they want to sing or act or whether they want be in sports or go to Harvard,”........“I want to make sure they get to chase their dreams.”

This young lady gives me hope that my kids and others just like them will be able to overcome their past and have their dreams come true. I will continue to root for Rachel on X-Factor and in life!
