How to Help with Wildfire Fighting Efforts

The Carr wildfire just outside of Redding, CA is 37% contained and has burned almost 127,000 acres! There are more than 4,300 fire fighters on the ground, but they are being pushed to their limits. Thankfully, they’re going to be getting a little help from an unexpected source - Australia and New Zealand!

The two nations are sending 146 firefighters to California to help battle the flames. All of America’s wild fire fighting crews (26,000 total) are currently on site somewhere fighting to protect our lands.

If you’re interested in helping the victims of the wildfires, several charities are on the ground and are accepting donations through their websites: 


1. THE AMERICAN RED CROSS


They are hosting emergency shelters for more than 1,000 people who have fled their home.

2. SHASTA REGIONAL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION 


Tax-exempt organization that covers Shasta county. More than 1,000 homes in the region have been lost.

3. THE SALVATION ARMY 

The Salvation Army's Emergency Disaster Services has teams to help serve people displaced from their homes. They are also on the ground serving first responders. 100% of all donations goes towards disaster relief.

They have a page of verified campaigns for individual families who have lost their homes.
