Supporting Teachers with BIG visions!

Scott Herrold's Podcast

Tuesday, August 25, 2020 - 30 minutes

We are supporting teachers with BIG visions! Scott Herrold talks with teachers about how to motivate our kids with online learning! All three of these teachers have special projects on Donors Choose. Will you consider investing in them?

Julia Quintanilla is our first featured teacher. She teaches Kindergarten at Ira J. Earl Elementary School in Las Vegas and she is fundraising for resources that will help her students trace letters, mold clay for letter and name practice, use white boards and markers for directed drawing and guided spelling; magnetic letters for them to move over to their whiteboards, sight word cards that I'll sort for weekly practice so that parents are easily able to find their student materials; portfolios for them to capture their finest work and be able to present as authors, scientists, mathematicians when we finally reunite in the classroom; a musical instrument for pattern and rhythm practice; math tool box and shapes for them to practice counting and one-to-one correspondence." Want to help?

Our second featured teacher is Robert Morrell from Ellis Elementary School. Robert's project can be found at the 12:14 mark of this podcast. He is an art teacher and is raising funds for re-usable clay to provide for his K-5 grade students. Robert said, "Students will be able to use this clay product to help them build their forming skills. Students who may struggle with drawing and two-dimensional work, typically thrive at building forms. Building forms also helps with hand eye coordination."

Our third featured teacher is Kathy Simmons from Northwest Career & Tech Academy. Her project can be found at the 21:03 mark of the podcast. She is raising funds to provide a steam cleaner for her culinary students. The steam cleaner is capable of disinfecting 99% of germs and bacteria and reaches up to 300 degrees.
