Experience the Artistry of Quilting from Around the World at The 33rd Annual Quilt Show on March 15-16, 2024

MONTH — The Desert Quilters of Nevada present the next installment of the Annual Quilt Show. This year’s event coincides with National Quilting Month, celebrating the 5,400-year-old art of quilting. Witness the labor of love sewn into more than 250 quilts on Friday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center.

This year’s theme, Quilts Around the World, is meant to showcase the various quilting styles seen across cultures and people around the globe. Although quilts used to be created out of necessity, today’s growing quilting population uses the art to express creativity and improve mental health. Members of the community of all ages are welcome to participate in viewing some of the most exquisite works made by the Desert Quilters of Nevada.

Quilts will compete for various ribbons and prizes during the show, including:

Best of Show
Best Show Theme – Quilts Around The World
President’s Choice
Viewer’s Choice
Mayor’s Choice (City of Henderson)
And many more!

All ribbons will come with a cash prize, and participants must be members of the Desert Quilters of Nevada.

Vendors will be at the event with quilted goods for sale, and food trucks will be available onsite. Additionally, there will be free demonstrations for those new to quilting to learn quilting and design techniques. Quilts of Valor will be presented to local Veterans to honor their service on Friday, March 15 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

More information about the event can be found here. Pre-event ticket sales will begin on Jan. 1 and remain available for purchase until March 10 for $9. Single day tickets will be available for $10, and multiple day tickets will be available for $15 on the day of the event.

Desert Quilters of Nevada, the first quilt guild in Southern Nevada, is a nonprofit organization formed to promote, encourage, and preserve the art of quilt making by developing appreciation of fine quilts, sponsoring, and supporting quilting activities, teaching techniques and the history of quilting and quilt making. The guild has more than 400 members across 14 states with quilters from all age groups.
